Victoria Williams

Hi!

I'm Victoria Williams, here to help you in your music theory journey! With me you will be able to...

  • ✓ replace guesswork with secure knowledge and real practical skills
  • ✓ progress through the music theory grades with a proven, clear and systematic approach
  • ✓ build a confident, independent and long-lasting understanding of music theory

I started MyMusicTheory.com way back in 2007 - all my courses have been thoroughly tested by thousands of students and are constantly updated and improved. Here's a little bit more about me...

  • → I graduated with a degree in music, (specialising in musicology), from the University of Leeds in 1995.
  • → I hold both diplomas in music theory from Trinity College London AmusTCL (distinction) and LmusTCL.
  • → I also hold Grade 8 Composition (Distinction) from LCM.
  • → I teach woodwind and piano (and theory!) in South Cambridgeshire as a private and visiting music teacher, and also in a volunteer role at the local music workshop.

Students of my courses generally gain top marks in their exams (and so can you!)

Just wanted to let you know that my certificate for completion of the AMusTCL has come through! I’m very happy with the result. I used your online resources and previous markings of my work as my primary mode of study and your knowledge, comments and willingness to help me over email are almost certainly the reason I succeeded in this exam. I think I’m done with exams now, so no more music theory related emails from me (unless I develop a burning passion for Bach chorales any time soon), but I wanted to pass on my genuine thanks for all you’ve done to help me, both directly and indirectly.

I am very pleased with the course. It is comprehensive and very thoroughly laid out and I find it easy to navigate and to understand the contents.

I think your course is really good. I found it very clear and straightforward, and you make complex concepts easy to understand.

I got a 91 out of 100 on the DipMusLCM exam… approved, upper level!!! Thank you so much for your help with the chorale marking and tips at such short notice – I’m sure I definitely would have lost a lot of points if it wasn’t for your excellent comments and feedback. Your book on chorale writing is also excellent and was pretty much my sole source of information for the question on Bach chorales. There’s so much jargon online about writing chorales, and yours is the only resource that I found that is to the point and easy to understand.
