Course Summary
This grade 2 music theory course covers the topics set out in the ABRSM (Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music) syllabus.
This is a 2nd level exam/course and is ideal if you have recently passed Grade 1 Music Theory.
It is also important to listen to all the musical examples, including your own answers to the exercises.
Step-by-step guidance making tricky concepts clear.
Accessible and practical, this course will open the door for you to more in-depth study of music theory.
This course will give you a thorough preparation in the basics of music theory, including:
→ simple time signatures 2/2, 3/2, 4/2 and 3/8
→ grouping of notes/rests in these time signatures
→ triplets
→ minor scales
→ the keys of A, Bb and Eb major, and A, E and D minor
→ scales, key signatures, intervals and tonic triads
→ intervals and tonic triads

→ adding rests or barlines in the new time signatures
→ working out the time signature
→ writing scales and working out intervals
→ grouping notes with beaming
