This grade 5 music theory course covers the topics set out in the Trinity College London syllabus.
This is an intermediate level exam/course and is ideal if you have recently studied for your Grade 4 Music Theory exam.

The exam consists of:
- Double sharps and flats
- Tenor clef, and transcription between the clefs
- The breve (double whole note) and demisemiquaver (32nd note)
- Unusual time signatures
- Pentatonic major scales
- Scales, keys and modulation
- Inverted intervals & transposing by any interval
- The supertonic chord
- The imperfect cadence
- Passing and auxiliary notes, ornaments
- Binary, strophic and verse/refrain forms
- Woodwind and brass instruments for the grade
- Two-part composition

- → I teach woodwind and piano (and theory!) in South Cambridgeshire as a private and visiting music teacher, and also in a volunteer role at the local music workshop.
